Album Info:
On June 18, 2008, a BNSF coal train derailed near Fountain, CO, south of Colorado Springs. These photos were taken on July 3rd. These are the coal gondola cars that were damaged beyond repair. They did not initially end up this way immediately following the derailment, they were piled up by construction equipment. These cars were later taken away scrapped in August of ‘08. The rolling stock involved photographed here were built in November 2006. At least six cars were totaled in the derailment. Their reporting marks and numbers are as follows: TGNX 31358, TGNX 31379, TGNX 31380, TGNX 31383, TGNX 31384, and TGNX 31388.
